The Grateful Dead
Photos and Stories From the Formative Years, 1966-1977
In honor of the recent passing of Bob Wier (October 16, 1947 – January 10, 2026 RIP), a founding member of the Grateful Dead, I have put together a list of Grateful Dead books. This list includes photography, lyrics, gear, personal stories, a kids book, an oral history, and more. The Grateful Dead is probably one of the most iconic bands to come out of the San Francisco bay area influencing thousands of musicians creating a lasting impact on our culture. I know there are many dead heads in Marin County, I hope you enjoy this list and check out some these titles. Note: The last four items on this list are for in library use only at either the California Room in the Civic Center Library or the Mill Valley History Room at the Mill Valley Library. Additionally, the Belvedere Tiburon also has six vinyl records of the Grateful Dead for checkout! -MCFL Dan
