Avatar is a great show. With humor, creativity, and some deeper messages the show is great for kids and enjoyable for their adults. I was especially interested in the Buddhist themes and references to elements of Asian cultures. This comic continues the high quality of the show and continues the story into new territories. I was especially impressed that the authors considered the ethical dilemmas of settler colonialism*--literally the only example of this in any fiction I I can think of (not to mention fiction for kids). *Now that the war is over, the Fire nation must return cities that used to belong to the Earth Kingdom. However some of the Fire Nation colonies have been in place for 100 years. Is it right to kick out generations of Fire nation citizens who have never known any other home? If not, how will the injustices of the past be made right again?
