Kinney uses a diary from the perspective of a relatively average middle school kid to create a humorous and light-hearted plot. Multiple events occur throughout the story, perhaps most noticeably the molded cheese that had been sitting on the blacktop for a long time. The dialogue and words are written in a way that allows everybody from any age to understand and follow along smoothly. This book is a great start for those that classify themselves as “non-book lovers,” as its humor can allow many students from around the world to relate with.
