This is a really intriguing book by Gordon Korman with a fascinating premise. Korman books often feature a lot of slapstick humour and goofiness. Not that there's anything wrong with that! Restart is a bit more serious and does a decent job examining some really serious, complex issue but at a level accessible for young readers. Chase Ambrose is an eighth grade football star, but an accident leaves him with severe amnesia. As he navigates his confusing new reality, he discovers that other students either fear or loathe him. He realizes he was actually a terrible bully and not a nice person. But who is he now? Can he really be a different person? This is a fast-paced read that looks at bullying, identity and dealing with the consequences of the decisions you make in life. It's a fast and fun read for middle grade readers that still has some of Korman's trademark humour, but it's a book that asks questions about what kind of person do you want to be. A great read.
