What would you do if you were given a clean slate? In other words, an opportunity to start over and fix your mistakes? This is the question that the book "Restart" by Gordan Korman presents. Our main character, Chase, loses all of his memories in an accident and can't recall anything about his life, not even his own name. However, Chase's classmates do remember him. Some love him, while others fear him. One even dumps frozen yogurt on his head. Slowly, through the various exciting adventures that he goes through, Chase begins to uncover frightening details of his own past, like that he was a terrifying bully who used to torment his classmates. Meanwhile, his classmates struggle with Chase's "reset".
This book is excellent for a variety of reasons. First of all, all the characters are great. Each one of them are enjoyable and their varied reactions to the new reset Chase are understandable. Secondly, telling the story using multiple perspectives was a great idea, especially in the context of the story. Finally, it is also a quite funny and an overall entertaining read. I highly recommend this book. -Aiden, Grade 8
