A strange and enchanting masterpiece. Moebius has created a layered world of dreams and an allegory about our relationship with "nature." The mask wearing and the "nose fever" seems oddly relevant for 2020 and the call to return the world (and ourselves) to an "Eden" where all life flourishes, will become all the more relevant because of our increasing climate disaster. I would argue with implication that a gender binary is most natural too, but I see the gender transformation that takes place as a nod to the old binary of the Abrahamic Adam/Eve story and, perhaps, an expression of Moebius's own subconscious. After reading it, I invite you to find and appreciate Eden wherever you are, and to lend a hand toward rewilding.

comic art perfection, as far as i'm concerned.

If I was going to pick a single selection that embodies the essence of Moebius as an artist, the Edena story would be it, yet surprisingly, this huge epic is not all that well known compared to many of Moebius's other works.
All of Moebius' works have a transcendent quality to them where every image and panel feels to tell a story within story, and this leads to something that is more enlightening than anything the written narrative could possibly offer. This is the unique appeal of Moebius as an artist. He has a natural and organic ability to infuse his imagery with a sense of a larger utopian world. I know that sounds a bit flowery, but true nonetheless.
