"Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch is the sequel to Love & Gelato. It follows Addie, the best friend of Love & Gelato’s protagonist Lina. Addie is on a trip to Ireland with her family, made unbearable due to the fact that she and her older brother Ian have fallen out after a nasty betrayal and a broken heart. Disappointed in their failing sibling relationship, their mother gives them an ultimatum: If they can’t get along, they'll both be kicked off their respective sports teams. Suddenly, stakes are raised, and when Ian decides to ditch Addie behind in Ireland so she can fly to see Lina in Italy herself, Addie doesn't back down, and she finds herself on a road trip with her newly found Irish guidebook, crammed in a tiny vehicle with him and his cute friend Rowan. Will these siblings that used to be closer than two peas in a pod be able to reconnect and apologize, or will they grow apart more?

Unlike Love & Gelato, this story focuses more on family connection and social issues. While there is a promising allure with Rowan, this is not as much of a love story as its prequel, and the plot is more about mending the sibling bonds between Addie and Ian and the events that caused their fallout. Even so, I loved this story almost as much, and the book still had the same magical touch of experiencing a beautiful European adventure alongside the characters. I recommend this to anyone who enjoyed Love & Gelato, as this sequel is just as adventurous and fun." -Anushka, Grade 12

Addie has a unique opportunity to go on a road trip with one of her older brothers and his Irish friend Rowan to the infamous music festival -- Electric Picnic. They take three days to visit sites important to one of the groups performing at the festival and with the help of a guidebook (which also tells us interesting facts about Irish sites) Addie and Rowan begin to heal their individual heartaches while rebuilding Addie's relationship with brother Ian. Loved their travel adventures!

"Love and luck" is a young adult book so I'm a little - at age 66- over the demographic it is aimed at. Having said that, I must confess that I enjoyed the book. The book talked about family dynamics and Addie and Ian in particular share a wonderful sibling relationship. I would say the author brings out the best in the warm, fuzzy relationship between three brothers and their sister. The car ride through Ireland in a jalopy makes for interesting reading as does the description of a music group. If you're a young adult, you'll love this book about love, heartache, and relationships. If you're a reader of any other age, you too will enjoy this book, I did.
