This picture book does an amazing job of capturing Jeremy's conflicting feelings as he decides whether or not to part with something useless but important to him. This story has a great moral without it feeling moralizing. Readalikes: Last Stop on Market Street, A Chair for My Mother.
A nice story dealing with generosity and sharing, set in a big city. Also a good discussion on "want vs. need."
Great book with a great message . Strongly recommend
Relatable & Impactful. This book is so much more than just "those shoes;" it's a lesson on Empathy & Kindness. After reading and discussing this book with my 8 year old, we grabbed some shoes from the closet and took them to a Thrift Shop - we donated the shoes and continued the discussion. This book is an absolute gem!
A great book that my son wanted to read more tha once. Helps children realize that they cannot always have what other children have, and that while it might be hard, it's OK.
A must-read that will help children deal with feelings about wanting a trendy item that all the other kids seem to have.
