Long before C. S. Lewis, there was Frank Baum. His series of loosely connected stories in the orbit of Oz redefined the children's story. LOST PRINCESS follows Dorothy on an unlikely mission to uncover the mystery behind a princess' disappearance.

I want what he's smoking. Best known for THE WIZARD OF OZ, Baum wrote volumes of adventures swirling around the characters from his phenomenally imaginative world of Oz. LOST PRINCESS (Ballantine Books) follows Dorothy on a madcap search for Ozma, the Princess of Oz, who, incidentally, shares her name with Baum's real-life granddaughter. Among the creatures she encounters along the way are the Frogman and Lavender Bear. Pretty. Map of Oz included to help readers keep their bearings.

Frank Baum is best known for his phenomenally successful THE MARVELOUS LAND OF OZ. With it, he introduced a palette of characters, each needy, each vulnerable, each with seemingly insurmountable challenges (brains, heart, courage, a lift home) to be overcome through personal transcendence. THE LOST PRINCESS OF OZ continues in that vein, a pulchritudinous missing royal princess the catalyst.
