College of Marin Student Andrew Chaplin will have his artwork on display from August 1- August 29. 

Artists Reception will take place on August 22nd from 2:30-4:30pm.

Born and raised in Marin, Andrew Chaplin is a local oil painter based in Fairfax. He recently graduated from College of Marin with an Associate's in Arts Degree in Economics and will transfer to University of California, Santa Cruz in the Fall. While studying for a bachelor's degree in Economics at Santa Cruz, Andrew plans to pursue art alongside his studies.

Artist Statement I was inspired to create this series of paintings when I decided to complete the rest of my undergraduate degree at College of Marin. Choosing to stay in my hometown while many of my friends had left after high school initially felt very isolating. As I move out of town to transfer to college this year, I wanted these paintings to be inspired by specific memories I had growing up in Marin, and for this series to capture my experience living in Fairfax. Lastly, I want to dedicate my paintings in this showcase to my grandma, whose memorial stone is in front of the library garden.
