The Fairfax Library Thursday Morning Book Club will meet in-person every other month to discuss a new book. Everyone is welcome to attend whether or not you have read the selected book for that meeting.
This is a drop-in event. We gather in person at the Fairfax Library for this conversation.
We will be discussing our selection: On the Wings of a Cuckoo by Kokila Byrne.
On the Wings of a Cuckoo is written by Fairfax's own Kokila Byrne. Join our discussion and gain insight from the author herself!
"In 1974, Kokila (Mary Ann Byrne) embarked on a life-changing journey, leaving her teaching career in the United States to travel to India with her five-year-old son. Over the next decade, they immersed themselves in a rich tapestry of diverse cultures, from the beaches of Goa in southern India to the majestic Himalayan mountains. After three transformative years, they joined the ashram of Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh, where Kokila welcomed the birth of her daughter.
During their time in the East, Kokila and her family explored many countries. This extraordinary adventure shaped her worldview and deepened her connection to the human spirit.
Returning to the United States in 1984, Kokila resumed her teaching career, yet her wanderlust and quest for understanding remained undiminished. Each summer, she embarked on new journeys to distant lands, continually weaving her life with rich experiences and a global perspective.
Kokila's writing reflects profound insights gained from years of exploration, spiritual growth, and cross-cultural encounters. Her work invites readers to join her on a journey of discovery-both outward into the world and inward to the depths of the soul."--Amazon
