Visit the beautiful exhibit of art depicting the wonders of Mt. Tamalpais, and learn about the preservation and restoration of Mt. Tam’s natural resources as well as ways to become involved through on-going volunteer and artistic opportunities. The art exhibit runs November 7 through January 6, and the artist's presentation is on Tuesday November 28 at 6:30pm.
With its sweeping views, miles of trails, and ancient forests, Mt. Tamalpais is a beloved local treasure. But the mountain also faces many challenges such as invasive weeds, forest diseases, and the effects of climate change. How can we ensure a vibrant future for Mt. Tam?
The Mt. Tamalpais Florilegium is an exhibition of paintings and drawings of the mountain’s flora, created by members of the Northern California Society of Botanical Artists (NCalSBA). The collection is not only an exhibition depicting beautiful flowers and plants, but also an example of what our mountain has to offer our community. The goal of this evening program is to engage our community and inspire us to appreciate and protect the mountain's amazingly rich mosaic of habitats.
We invite you to join an interactive and hands-on discussion with community leaders who will offer many opportunities to become actively engaged—from discussing and demonstrating how botanical artists work in the field and in their studios to how artistic decisions are informed by science. Our presenters will answer your questions and provide opportunities for you to learn more about the preservation and restoration of Mt. Tam’s natural resources as well as ways to become involved through on-going volunteer and artistic opportunities.
